Alhaurin el Grande is becoming increasingly popular destination on the Costa del Sol with its beautiful mountain views, slower pace of life it believed over 5000 Brits have already made Alhaurin eAlhaurin church on the Costa del Soll Grande there home.

Situated at the foot of the Sierra de Mijas looking over the Guadalhorse valley some 30 klms from Malaga’s international airport and approx. 35 minutes from Marbella and the coast.

Surrounding towns include Coin, Cartama and Alhaurin del Torre access is now greatly improved with building of a new duel carriageway which links Churriana and Alhaurin el Grande to Malaga airport.

Alhaurin el Grande has certainly had a varied history over the years which has included a epidemics, invasions and an earthquake in 1680. Arabs Romans and Phoenicians have left there mark on Alhaurin with some examples of there occupation still standing today, namely a 12th century Moorish archway a Roman aqueduct situated on the road to Coin, there is also a fully working Moorish mill.

At one stage Alhaurin must have been a Roman town of some importance during its history which is confirmed by the amount of remains such as columAlhaurin Ruin on the Costa del Solns, coins headstones and sculptures found there

Now typically Andalucian with its white buildings Alhaurin el Grande is surrounded by beautiful countryside and Golf courses, notably Mijas Golf and Alhaurin Golf which was the first 1st class golf course to be built on the Costa del Sol.
